Neighborhood Fiesta

Our neighborhood has a tradition of hosting a neighborhood fiesta. The de los Reyes family provides handmade enchiladas and everyone in the ward potlucks toppings (like cheese and salsa) and desserts.
The first memorable moment happened just before everything was supposed to be begin. It's been raining the past few days and today had been overcast and had a few sprinkles. Of course, within ten minutes of setting up and blessing the food, it begin to come down pretty hard! Thankfully, it only lasted about five minutes but it still soaked all the chairs and tables that had been set up and put a chill in the air. Most folks that live close to the park it was hosted at (like us) hurried to grab some blankets and towels to dry everything off.
The second thing (and probably the most memorable for the children) was a homemade train that made its rounds. Azucena and Adelaide were THRILLED to be able to ride! They patiently waited their turn in line (a precursor to when we go to Disneyland) and loved it. Adelaide even went a second time! (Of course she had to be in the pink car both times!)

 

Aurora - 8 months

Happy 8 months, little baby! I feel like I just wrote the post for your seven month birthday!

You are a mover and shaker! You constantly crawl around to explore or keep up with your sisters. Your favorite place to crawl is the staircase. You can only go up right now, but I'm sure next time I post an update, you'll be crazy flying down the stairs. You're also a champ at walking along the edges of things.
You LOVE taking baths with your older sisters! When you hear the water start up, you crawl in a big hurry to the bathroom and pull yourself up the side of the bathtub and reach down to play in the water.
You got your first tooth! It took me completely surprise! You had a few rough days where you were extra cuddly and couldn't stay down for a nap very well, but then out popped your tooth three days ago! It's your lower middle left.
You're garbling a bunch of sounds now: ba, da, ga, ma, na
You eat like crazy. The other night you ate almost an entire avocado, two handfuls of Cheerios, some of your baby snacks, and several Ritz crackers, and three ounces of formula.
Speaking of formula, teething has sealed the deal on your nursing. Even though I tried to stick out the biting, you refused to actually suckle for several days in a row. So we have now moved on to you just using the bottle, because my supply is completely gone. :(

Pocatello Triathlon

One of Clark's goals before turning 30 was to run a triathlon. And while I still think he was crazy to want to do it, the point is that he DID IT! It was a reverse sprint triathlon, which means it was a 5K run, 20K bike ride and 500 yd swim.

All the racers had to have their number sharpe'ed onto their arms and legs.

 The registration fee for the race included a voucher for breakfast. As you can see, Clark definitely took advantage of the good food!

Angela Brown in our ward also participated in the triathlon. It turns out both she and Clark placed in their age groups! She was second and he was third. So awesome! Congratulations, Clark!

First Day of School

 We signed up our girls for a weekly music program called Let's Play Music. Today was their first day and they were SO excited! They wanted to get dressed up and wanted to take their backpack to school. They kept asking when Daddy was coming home so they could go to school. I'm so happy my girls have this special activity each week!
