Baby #3 is a . . .

Today was ultrasound day! Clark nearly gave me a heart attack because he didn't get home until 25 minutes before the appointment (usually we leave the house half an hour early) because work has been crazy since last week. We got there just in time, though, and there was more craziness:

• the sonogram technician informed me that my bladder was completely empty (WHAT?! I drank FOUR smoothies an hour beforehand and I had to pee {but wasn't allowed to} when we got to the office!)
• because my bladder was empty, the baby wasn't "buoyed up" which made it . . . interesting/uncomfortable to have the ultrasound
• turns out I'm having Braxton Hicks. I can't feel them at all, but while the tech was looking inside me, I had a couple and she showed me the uterus seizing up and stuff. Cool, but creepy.
• the baby was also completely uncooperative--the technician would try to measure the leg and the baby would start to kick like mad, so she'd move on to trying to measure the umbilical cord and the baby would wrap its arms around it and block it off, etc., etc. Needless to say, this was my longest ultrasound appointment--over 45 minutes long.

In the end, we finally found out (or are at least 99% sure) that we're having another little girl! We announced it on Facebook by having friends pick between "A Little Princess" and "The Little Prince" as our daughters' bedtime story tonight. And despite our third daughter giving us so many issues with measurements and such, she's very healthy and active, which is definitely the best part of our appointment today. :)

Ogden Temple Open House and BYU Football Scrimmage

When we heard that the Ogden temple was having an open house, we immediately picked up tickets so we could take the girls. Looking at our calendar, it turned out that one of the best days for us to head down to Utah would also be the same day as the BYU fall football scrimmage. Coincidence, no? :D

 The temple is beautiful. I loved the exterior, I loved the interior, and the girls loved being at the temple. Azucena asks daily if we can go inside the temple. She called the celestial room the "beautiful room." We didn't get a shot of the family outside of the temple (too many other folks there) but used the "selfie" spot inside the information tent to grab a quick pic. Also, I love that they put the booties on toddlers and babies. :D

 When we finished with the tour, we had about two hours to drive the 80 miles to Provo--which we needed, since it was rush hour on a Friday. But other than having to sit in a car for what felt like forever (thank you, pregnancy) we were safe and still made it to the game just in time. We were even able to meet up with the Tracys. We love when we get to see them!

After the scrimmage, we were able to go on the field and let the girls play a bit, and we even chatted with Christian Stewart, this year's back-up quarterback, who we bugged a little bit last year because he looks like like Tyler. We then picked up Zupas and visited Kristen (no pics, dang it!) for a while. We love seeing our Utah friends and feel bad that we don't have lots of time anytime we visit. I wish we could have a giant party every time we're in town so we can see 50 of you at once!

 This evening brought us a surprise downpour. The girls had been cooped up inside and I felt pretty bad so when the rain started to let up we put them in their swimsuits and took them out to play in the puddles and other general wetness. I think their smiles say it all!

18 Weeks!

Here we are, pregnancy number three and it's been pretty crazy! I took the pregnancy test May 7th and got a big ol' positive! Since we'd been trying for almost a year to have another baby, I was super, SUPER excited. Unfortunately, this pregnancy was a little more like when I was pregnant with Azucena: lots of days filled with nausea and exhaustion. Having two toddlers to chase after definitely doesn't help with the energy. The days that both girls take simultaneous naps (like today!) are HUGE blessings.

So now that we're about a week away from having the ultrasound, it's time to make your voice heard! Do you think a little boy or a little girl will be joining our family? Here are a few "clues" so you can make your educated guesses:

*Other than being required to eat about thirty minutes after each meal, I haven't really had cravings (just like my first two pregnancies)
*We had an appointment the day before my 18th week milestone we went in to check the heartbeat and it was sitting at a pretty 140 bpm (both girls were 155+)

Chubbuck Days

Since we live in a smaller community, we decided to take advantage and actually start participating in local events. Luckily, we made the decision right before the annual Chubbuck Days celebration. There was an entire weekend's worth of activities but having just moved a few days beforehand we only went to the Saturday ones.
We dragged the girls to a parade first thing in the morning where they learned the beauties of free candy and loud sirens.

 Trucks, classic cars, horses, loud music, and dancers were some of the girls' favorite things. :D

 After the parade, we went to the park for what was a fancy farmer's market. :D Lots of tents and booths and food. We had fun making crafts at the Home Depot booth (and the girls got free aprons!), we earned even more candy at all the fair-like competitions, and were able to see some of our friends from our old ward.

After a couple of hours, we picked up lunch at Wendy's (cheating, I know, but the girls wanted fries and chicken nuggets) and also a taco from a Spanish church group (sooooo worth it!). We also checked out the Southeaster Idaho Highland Games for a while. We even got to see some caber tossing! WalMart provided free watermelon right before the fire department made it "rain" for the children. We were exhausted by the end of the afternoon!
