Oregon Vacation - More beach

Here are some pictures of Azucena playing "touch the water" (as she puts it). Also, Adelaide had her first real experience with sand (i.e. it was finally warm enough to set her down in the sand).

Of course, after trying to eat sand you have to clean up by taking a bath in the sink!

Oregon Vacation - Yaquina Lighthouse

Have I ever mentioned how much I love lighthouses? With the exception of living in Puerto Rico, I don't think I've ever really been near them, but I think they're gorgeous, elegant, and historical, to boot. Our beach house was just a couple miles down the road from the Yaquina lighthouse, so we headed over to pick up a three day pass. There were tide pools, crazy amounts of birds, and seals dozing on rocks. And I'm pretty sure I'm going to get a couple of my pictures put on canvas for a bathroom in our future home. Because, really, lighthouses and ridiculously beautiful (and so is that sky! Dang!).

Oregon Vacation - Newport beach and Science Center

Once we reached the beach house, we had to spend time on the beach! I've missed the sand and waves for a very, very long time (the last time I got to go to a real beach was in 2009 when the roommates and I went to Mexico). Azucena loved playing in the sand and touching the edge of the water. Adelaide was content to be cuddled. :D But they definitely left their mark on the beach that day!

At the Science Center, Azucena (and everyone else) had fun exploring the different exhibits. They even had a tsunami simulator (you used LEGOs to try and build something that would withstand giant waves) for the older kids.

(Azucena sat in front of this aquarium and said "DORI! NEMO!" the entire time. She loved seeing the fish she loves in real life.)

Oregon Vacation - Father's Day, pt. 2

After leaving Portland and driving down to Newport, everyone started to get their tie-dye shirts ready for later in the week.

Oregon Vacation - Father's Day, pt. 1

Happy Father's Day to Clark! It was our last day in Portland and our hotel gave us vouchers to eat in the hotel restaurant. We had some truly delicious food! I mean, the sausage and biscuits were freaking fanTAStic! We really want to go back there just for the food. :D
Since it was Sunday, we planned on going to The Grotto so we could visit the Stations of the Cross. I've been to one other place that has those (it's in the San Luis Valley) and Clark thought it was a good idea, so after checking out, we headed over. There was some beautiful scenery that led to the stations.

I love that the last station is the resurrected Christ.
This is The Grotto. Can you believe how amazing church meetings would be here? (Oh, and the statue at the very top is Mary.)

We also snuck a look at the inside. I love catholic churches!
