New Calling

Now that we're settling in, I can finally update this thing!

I haven't taken too many pictures with my regular camera, but I do have little daily reminders of Azucena on my phone, since my mom insists on daily pictures or videos of her. And the videos are finally starting to get interesting because Azucena is really starting to go to town on vocalizing.

I also just got a calling: I'm the new compassionate service leader. It's kind of crazy! I have to learn about all the sisters, old and new (since I, myself, am new), keep track of pregnancies (four in the next two weeks!) and families moving in and out, and am in charge of activities for stay-at-home moms. It's very much taken over my life already.

If any of you have ideas for the stay-at-home mom part, I'd love to hear them!

The Wedding

Never got a good picture of the bride and groom together, so here are some shots of them separately. Also, the Portland, Oregon temple (which is much more gorgeous than this picture may lead you to believe).

Portland

At the airport, we got a list of places to try out and one that was listed was the BluePlate Grill (which had been featured on Food Network). The food was delicious and I love that that was my first impression of Portland!


Of COURSE we had to go to VooDoo Donuts! After all, we were in Portland!






When Clark found out about Powell's City of Books, he unselfishly told me we could go and visit for a while, if I wanted. See why I married him? :D

We had a room with a King Size bed, for you-know-who. ;)


For some reason, you can't fill up your own gas in Oregon. It was really charming, but completely threw us off the first time we went to a gas station.

Football Season

It's fall (it even feels like fall!) and that means football season out here in Cougar country. A few weeks ago, Clark really wanted to spoil our daughter so he went out and bought her some BYU onesies to wear to the football games. These pictures are from the BYU v Ole Miss game (September 3rd) at the Tracys house. We sure love seeing them!

We've Moved!

Yeah, so, we moved at the beginning of August actually but, since we had to pay rent for the entire month, we took our sweet time moving all the boxes and cleaning everything up. And let me tell you, moving that way is MUCH better than how we did it last year. By a LOT. But, since it's pretty guaranteed that our daughter will have no memories of her first home, I had to take a couple pictures to show her when she's older. And I'll sure miss those ceiling fans! (She *loves* ceiling fans. LOVES.)

Reflecting on September 11th

Like all patriotic days, I am reminded of the third verse of the beautiful hymn, "America the Beautiful."

"O beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife.
Who more than self their country loved
And mercy more than life!"

3 Months Old

Dear Azucena,

Today is your three month birthday! You're just so grown-up now, I'm not sure how I'll handle the next 18+ years.

You love:
* to be carried and held
* music (especially hymns at church and "Do Your Ears Hang Low?")
* holding your little blue blanket in one hand and your tutu skirt in the other
* your jittering bear (you have conversations with him all the time!)

Landmarks:
*you've started trying to sit up! It's crazy how strong you are--if you're angled just a little bit, you're able to pull up your top half into a sitting position! (Not that you stay there, you still have some work to do!)
*you have your social smile down pat. You always smile at me first thing in the morning. You love seeing your daddy. You're usually good with other family members and friends. I love your happy smile!
*you drool and suck on everything now. If it's on your chest or belly, you'll pull it up to your mouth to help you explore

You're still working on your laugh--you usually just smile really wide and open and close your jaw (like you're chuckling without sound).

the Owlz!

We have a coupon thing that would've given us a pretty sweet date deal to the Owlz game. However, we were unable to find it, since everything is in a different spot since the move. Clark made the executive decision to go to the game anyway, since it was the last of the season and we hadn't been at all the rest of the year (well, I hadn't). When we got there, someone was handing out coupons for an even better deal: $1 tickets and $1 concessions! Plus, the whole reason we wanted to go was that the first so-many fans that showed up got a free beanie (yeah, we're free-loaders). So for $4 we got two seats, a soda, a popcorn, and two beanies. :) We didn't stay past the seventh inning stretch, since Azucena needed to get some rest, but the game was great and we enjoyed being out in the lovely weather.
