Our adventure monkey

Azucena is definitely a little adventurer. If she sees a ledge or a low shelf or a cubby space, she tries to fit herself into it. This weekend, Clark finally got the crib set up for Adelaide's (eventual) arrival and Azucena noticed the little space there was to squeeze underneath it. The only problem was that she couldn't get back out on her own. :D

                

 

BYU Basketball

I think Clark is a proud papa right now. Our daughter was able to go to both a football and basketball game this season. :) She was dressed in her cougar outfit both times (see? I got a picture this time!) and her favorite part was still singing the Fight Song on Daddy's shoulders. However, the surprising bit was that now when she sees a Cougar, she puts her hand up in the air and says "wahwahwahwah?" which is her way of asking us to do the "rah, rah, rah-rah-rah" chant. She'll throw her hands up and do the rolling arm motions, too! (No video yet, since it's a VERY recent development!)

Pregnancy Update (the end is near!)

Some pregnancy shots from the last couple of weeks:

37 weeks (November 15)

38 weeks (November 22 - AFTER Thanksgiving dinner!)

I've been having weekly doctor appointments and I finally let him check to see if I was dilated the day before Thanksgiving (since I've been having some intense pressure/stress down there but no contractions). I was dilated to a 1 1/2 and, surprise, surprise, didn't have the baby. But I'm not expecting her for a little while yet, so no big.

Also, I just realized that I look really good in those black maternity dress pants. I should wear those more in the next week and a half . . .

Thanksgiving Memorial

This year, we had Thanksgiving with Clark's dad's side of the family. We gathered at Grandma Great's house in Murray and enjoyed a delicious meal (turkey, potatoes, rolls, pies) and Azucena was pretty good around everyone (although she refused to let me feed her for a long time and finally snuck up on Grandpa's lap and stole most of his potatoes) but my purse (which had my camera) was put away and I didn't know where it was for most of the day, so no pictures. Sorry!

Clark and I had talked about visiting his grandfather on Thanksgiving since it's a family holiday and Clark hasn't been to the cemetery since his aunt passed away two and a half years ago. So, after dinner, we swung by WalMart to pick up some flowers and then headed over to see Grandpa Earley and Aunt Laurie. Melinda (Clark's cousin) had been by earlier that morning and left a bouquet for her mother so we placed all but one of our lilies at Grandpa Earley's plot.

It was a really peaceful way to end a day of gratitude.

Studio Shot

What I learned from taking portrait studio pictures:

• I very much prefer taking pictures outside or in my own home
• I'm not a huge fan of the "professional" photographers in a studio
• It doesn't matter if you have a scheduled appointment, everyone else's will run late and you'll get to sit there for 45 minutes before you even get into the studio
• The photographers will only be interested in selling you packages and specials and deals at the end (that part of our visit took 35 minutes)

But, hey, I have a family picture to put in my home that I'll only have to replace in the next month or so, and the sitting fee was waived, and I got cheap Christmas cards out of it. :D

Night with Carrie Fisher

Clark gets to listen to the radio a lot while he's at work and he heard about Carrie Fisher coming into town and the radio station was giving away tickets to attend. He was under the impression that we'd get to meet Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia from the Star Wars movies) but it turned out it was the Utah Film Center's 2nd Annual Peek Award which "annually honor[s] an actor, filmmaker, or subject of a film who is positively impacting our society's perception of persons with disabilities." It was actually a really cool presentation and Carrie was absolutely hilarious to listen to. Some of the insights that she shared about how she feels when getting treatments or even just getting through day-to-day activities were really interesting. Here are some shots I took (they never said no photography!)

Pregnancy Update

Here are a couple more pregnancy shots. As you can see, I'm getting pretty darn round! It's definitely much more difficult to get around. Also, to drive (which wasn't really an issue last time, but I also drove a different car). 

I had a doctor appointment this morning and somehow gained six pounds in the last two and a half weeks (really? HOW?! I haven't changed my diet or my activity level!) but the doctor blamed it on Halloween, which was nice of him. Anyway, we're definitely having a kid sooner rather than later and I can't wait to meet my new baby girl!

Fall Leaves

While down in Provo, we were able to visit Michelle and Emily at their new house (which is pretty much one of the most adorable places EVER). They have a couple of giant trees in their yards which makes for a lot of leaves. We weren't able to make Azucena love them, but she tolerated them enough to at least sit for a few pictures.

Cynthia's Baby Shower

It was so much fun to have a baby shower for Cynthia! She's such a sweetheart. I loved being her neighbor for the short amount of time we were--Clark and I often talk about how much we wish we still lived just above them so that we could still have such awesome neighbors. And it doesn't hurt that she's due about a week after me, too. :D (We really want our babies to be friends!) Anyway, the cute decorations were made by Kylie (how gorgeous, eh?) and the food by Allie (I still need that Asian salad recipe!). It was a simple and sweet shower and I'd help with a thousand more for such a great friend!
