Today was a very, VERY long wait (I left the office an hour and a half after my scheduled appointment) thanks to the holiday backup. However, this is what we learned:
*the baby's heartrate is normal
*I weigh more in the afternoons (yeah, I knew that)
*I am measuring 40 cm (she said the sudden jump could be due to the fact that this is my first afternoon visit and, therefore, I have a full tummy/possibly a full bladder)
*I am finally dilated. Not much (1 cm), but now I know for sure what all those weird pains from last week were!
We set up an appointment for next Tuesday (huzzah, my due date!) and she said that my mom (who should arrive on Friday) should be here in plenty of time to witness the birth. :D
Thanks to all you optimists who voted for before June, though!

Last Day
Today was my last day of work at the Boys and Girls Club. It was definitely bittersweet. I'm going to miss those kids, but I'm not going to miss some of the drama or the running around. The price you pay to work with kids for nine months. ;) Also, I can't post pictures with faces, but I did want a couple on here, so these are two shots of the kids playing with sidewalk chalk on our last day. The boys are drawing Dragonball Z characters while the girl is starting on a flower that ended up being larger than her. I'll miss them!

Doctor Update #11
Not a bad visit, just lots of checking of things:
*Azucena is still head down (I'm pretty sure I could've told the doctor this because I feel her down there all the time!
*I am still measuring 37 cm
*Gained 2 lbs this week (even though I've been walking more and eating less. Or, at least, eating less crappy food. :D)
*Heartrate is still fantastic
*Not dilated at all. :D
Tomorrow begins week 38!

When we're bored . . .
Yesterday (or maybe Friday?) Clark decided to rate how Peruvian I am compared to my siblings. The verdict (in order from most to least):
Edgar
Nathan
Natalia
Nicoel
Daniel
I don't know how I feel about this, but I think it's funny that my RM brother beats me. :D
**Also, if you have not yet voted, there's a poll for when you think I'll go into labor! (I'm within two weeks of my due date, so I'm allowed to ask!)

Nesting
Nesting is great for women/the baby/the house, not so much for the husband. :)
Yesterday or the day before I decided I *really* needed to get things done around the house. I still don't have a bag packed for the hospital (but that's mainly due to the fact that I have two pairs of pants that I wear and six or seven tops and five sets of garments which means that, if I pack them now, I'm down to having to wash garments every three days and only one pair of pants) and there just feels like there's a TON to do.
Today I got the following done:
>cleaned out the fridge
>washed all the dishes that I've been neglecting (no dishwasher)
>cleaned up the stove/counters
>washed the couch covers
>washed a load of baby clothes (socks are SO CUTE) along with a couple receiving blankets*
>used up the very, very ripe bananas to make bread (mmm, our house smells good, did I mention that?)
>had the trash taken out
What we're about to take care of:
>getting rid of of our pile of recyclables
>getting rid of our DI pile
And Clark was nice enough to attack the mold above the shower when I asked him if it was what I thought it was (and the fact that there's no way in heck I'd've been able to clean it myself).
I'm excited to have another free half-Saturday so I can go through all the papers and things that have been building up, too!
*Now I can start putting these things in the bag that goes to the hospital!
ALSO: go vote and let me know when you think I'll go into labor! ;)

New Neighbors (and a rant)
We have new neighbors.
Not that we were that attached to the old ones (we saw them in person, what, like, eight times?) but at least they were considerate!
Our new neighbors moved in at some point this weekend (we don't know, we were out of town) and have been kind enough to let us know that they wake up before 6 a.m. How do we know that? Because they wake US up before 6 a.m. And I don't mean five minutes beforehand. I mean 5:10 in the morning.
That's right, kids, 5:10.
Call me old fashioned, but I've always been taught that there's a sacred bubble between the hours of 10 p.m. and 8/9 a.m. You are quiet. You don't do things like vacuum when there are neighbors downstairs or throw a dance party with open doors in the middle of a complex. And you don't freakin' yell at whoever else is in the house and have loud, personal conversations at who knows what noise levels at 5:30 in the morning. Or, for that matter, have a soccer tournament(?) before 8 in the morning. (That's my best guess--there was a lot of laughing, muffled noises, and a big WHOMP against the wall that's right next to my head when I'm still in bed trying to sleep.
Rant over. I just really wanted to vent. And have it down in writing should I need to get more proactive (seeing as it's only been two and a half days . . . )
Side note: is it evil that I keep thinking, I'll have a newborn in about three weeks and she'll keep whatever schedule/volume she wants and won't that teach them?

Doctor Update #10
Another quick appointment. Got the results back for my Strep B test and they're negative so it doesn't matter that I'm allergic to penicillin because I won't need the antibiotic drip when I go into labor! WOO! Measuring 37 cm, heartbeat is good, I didn't gain any weight from last week.
Sounds like everything is truckin' along just fine!

Renaissance Festival and Fantasy Faire
Saturday, May 14th. An epic day.
Why?
Because I FINALLY got to go to a Ren Faire! I've been waiting over a decade and Clark was nice enough to humor me and my almost 37 week pregnancy and take me to northern Utah for the weekend. And let me tell you, it was a BLAST. We picked up Michelle and headed on up and saw a TON of fun crafts, great costumes and lots of other things. Oh, and full contact jousting. :) And since those are the pictures I'm sure you care about the most, they're first:
Our side's champion, Sir Jake:

The tournament champion, Prince Killem:

A few of the many exotic animals hanging around:

Some of the fun and awesome signs hanging around (including a cute little baby dragon statue):

The second reason Clark agreed to go to the Faire--two pound turkey legs!

And, of course, the costumes/outfits!:

I took this picture in honor of Eve, who loves dreads so much she'll be getting some herself in a couple of weeks:

What Ren Faire would be complete without Link?

Some Easter celebrating
We couldn't just swoon at the new baby while visiting Nicoel's place, we had to play with the older kids, too. :) And, since it was Easter weekend, they were DYING to make the cookies and color the eggs (I kid you not, there were a few tantrums when we wouldn't let them near the cookie dough because the oven was being used to cook a turkey). I was put in charge of helping the kids dye the eggs (and I got a stain on my shirt (to be seen in later photos) because of it) and it was pretty darn fun! I loved that they wanted the eggs out as soon as possible but were nice enough to let me make them count to ten. :) Here are a couple shots my mom got on my camera:

Doctor Update #9
Thanks to Clark's new schedule, he was able to come to the doctor's appointment today. This was especially nice, since I had to have the strep B culture test done. Things I found out at the appointment today:
*the uterus is measuring 36 cms
*the hospital will no longer give tours due to "security issues"
*our daughter is currently head down
*I may or may not have been having mild contractions in the last week BUT
*I am not dilated at all (which leads me to believe they're not contractions)
And we're on to our weekly appointments!

Maternity Pics
Well, we've been without internet for four days (and it still isn't fixed, thank you guest services at BYU) so I haven't been able to update the blog with my CO trip, Easter, or my doctor's appointment last week. However, while I have a second, I wanted to send you over to Marcie Jessee Photography, since we had a maternity session (to get ready for my daughter's birth). Love her, and I'm so grateful I live near her and catch up with her fairly frequently. Hope you like the pictures she posted, and I should be getting a few more in the next week or two!
