Fox Hat!

My friend Kelli runs an Etsy shop where she sells crocheted hats. They're adorable! Right before Christmas a won a free hat from her shop and I'm so excited! It's this gorgeous fox design that I just love. I had Aurora model it and as soon as I did, the other girls wanted to take fancy pictures, too. Here are my three munchkins being little goofballs.

(Clark tried to sneak into this one. I have three dorky daughters because I have a dorky husband. :D )

Christmas Dresses

One reason I'm excited to have two little girls right now is because I love the tradition of having holiday dresses for church. Both of these dresses are courtesy of my mom. (And Azucena is a crazy wiggly girl. It's why she's often blurry in pictures.)

Random Rants, the Honor Code

If you attend BYU (or any of its affiliates), you're aware that students must adhere to an Honor Code.

Considering how specific this code is, there is an awful lot of debate about what it means to follow it. And the BYU-Idaho campus has even more restrictions.

Today, a new rule was set up there. (See this article.)

I have a few thoughts about this. But first, let me share a couple of personal examples:

1. Walking on campus, I passed a girl who was wearing modest attire: a long-sleeved top, boot-cut jeans, boots, and a jacket. However, her jeans had horizontal slits up past her front pocket lines. (I have actually seen the horizontal tears more than once, but this was the highest up the leg that I'd ever seen them. Usually they stop mid-thigh [which is technically still against the Honor Code]. I've also seen them on both endowed and non-endowed students.)

2. While visiting Clark on campus, I passed several girls who wore long-sleeved tops, boots, skirts, and leggings. However, their skirts did not even extend past the reach of their hands. (Did your mother ever enforce that rule?)

3. I remember that it started raining one night while I was headed home. I had a lot of trouble walking because I was wearing flip-flops (permissible on BYU-Provo campus) but they had no tread. I also remember silently denouncing the Honor Code because it specifically states, "shoes should be worn in all public campus areas."

Now, I don't share that last example to say what a saint I am compared to these other girls I have mentioned (and don't worry, while all my examples include females, I've seen plenty of guys try and flout the Honor Code, too), I just wanted to share it because it's not always clothes that are in question. Also, to say that I don't always have warm fuzzies for the Honor Code.

However, I was a student then and I had signed the Honor Code which meant I had agreed to follow the rules. I knew what I was getting into when I agreed to come to school here, so I just went with it.

I was listening to a talk by Elder Neil L. Anderson a couple of months ago and he said the following: "There are times we honor our agreement simply because we agreed to it." A few minutes later, he continued, "obey them [the rules] because you signed your name, saying you'd obey them."

What other argument can I make? When an apostle of the Lord says that you should hush up and buck up, you do it. No arguments.

Sunday outfit and pajama party!

Thank you, Joyce, for such a beautiful dress! Azucena fits in it perfectly right now!

Yes I am using my blog as a way to share super awesome pictures of my daughter. Deal with it. :D

Baby Girl Dresses

So, sue me. I just wasted an hour online shopping for my little girl. :D And, while I've never spent $40 on a dress for ME, who says I can't send these pictures in an e-mail to my mother and say something like, hey, your granddaughter is awesome and would look downright FASTASTIC in one of these? Especially if I give three options, right? ;)

Maternity Clothes

Pros:
the pants don't have buttons or zippers

Cons:
Because it's an elastic waist, the pants fall off easier

Baby Letter 2

Dear Baby,

Next week I'll know if we get to drown in pink for the rest of our lives or if Clark will have his wish of having a little athlete to train for the next 18 years. I'm excited (well, not for the pink. Anyone thinking of buying pink should redirect their thoughts to red, purple, green and other fun, jewel-toned colors) for you either way.

You just have to let me know if you're agreeable by punching me every once in a while, okay? Because the doctor lady wants you to. If I have to see her disappointed face one more time, I don't know what I'll do. And if you're anything like me, you just want a good nap instead of wiggling around all the time like your dad, but still. Just this once (well, more than once so I can make sure I'm not crazy) in the next week, please give me a little shout out.

Love,
Mom

Stacey and Clinton would kill me

I just realized I'm wearing paisley, plaid, polka dots and zebra print. At the same time. Oops!

Whites go in hot

How is it that, even after all my good intentions and planning, I still have no time to do laundry? Ever?

Hint #1: It's black and white with a little red

Something that I've realized: Even though I detest regular socks (footies and knee highs do not count), I think I own more white socks than Michael Jackson.

Skirts and other trinkets

You can totally tell what mood I'm in based on the accessories that I choose. I have no idea why, but I love creating outfits based on one thing--a necklace, a skirt or a pair of shoes, even. Today's choice: a skirt. Yesterday's choice: a headband. Yes, I'm crazy. I'm also a girl.

I really should be working right now (I have 4 people on hold) but I had to share the fact that I'm wearing my awesome orange plaid shorts today but they *keep falling off.* That's what I get for forgetting to let them shrink a little in the dryer. Oh, and that picture is of me and Clinton being weird "twins"--his idea
