2 Week Check Up
Azucena was a real trooper and went to the doctor Thursday afternoon. Her mother didn't realize they were going to wound her (seriously, they stabbed her foot, took about five minutes to get the gauze and sticky tape stuff to finally stay on, then said it should be good to be removed in ten minutes when, really, it took over half an hour for it to coagulate. Arg.) so she was on tenterhooks by the end of the visit.
The happy parts:
*she now weighs 8 lbs 7 oz (go team!)
*she is 21 7/8 inches long (which puts her in the 90th percentile. But looking at her parents, she won't be there for long, lol)
*she looks healthy and beautiful (hey, if the doctor said it, it's a fact, not just an opinion!)

Our Little Lady
Azucena certainly has a mind of her own and does little things to let me know that she's her daddy's girl already.
This started when she waited until the very last minute of her due date to actually start contractions (11:47 p.m. to be exact). They were about 7+ minutes apart and stayed that way until quarter to two in the morning when they started being 5 - 5 1/2 minutes apart. We finally woke Clark up at 5 in the morning and were at the hospital by 5:50 (we finished packing a couple of things, I snuck a piece of toast, we had a blessing). Got checked into a room by 6:30 a.m. and then the waiting game began.
Up to about 11 in the morning, they kept upping my dosage of petocin to try and hurry things along. However, at that point, the contractions were feeling pretty darn evil and they offered to get the anesthesiologist so I could have an epidural. I wasn't sure I wanted one so early since I was pretty much at a 3 still, but he had a c-section scheduled from 11:30 - 12:30 so if I didn't get one then, I'd have to wait until almost 1 in the afternoon. So, we got the epidural. :)
By 4 p.m. we STILL weren't progressing much, so they broke my water a few minutes later. THAT did the trick. An hour later I was at a 5 and an hour after that I was at an 8+. Around 8:30 p.m. I started to run a fever so they had me wait to push until they could get me attached to some antibiotics.
I finally started pushing at 9:10 and proceeded to try and get her out for the next hour and a half.
She came at 10:47 p.m. on June 8th (which is the one year anniversary of me and Clark getting engaged) and was 8 lbs, 4 oz, 21 inches long. She's adorable and here are two pictures for you to enjoy.

Doctor Update #13
I just realized this was my thirteenth appointment and maybe *that's* why Azucena hasn't shown up yet. :)
Things we figured out today:
*heartrate is still good
*still measuring 40 cm
*dilated to 1 1/2 cm
*effaced a lot more than last week
*because she was checking more thoroughly (or something along those lines) she actually stripped my membranes. She didn't explain if she did a thorough job or took care of all of it (or whatever the terminology) but she did say she was a little. So, that might help this week, too. :)
We also went ahead and scheduled me to be induced next Tuesday. So, if she doesn't come on her own before Monday, we have an office visit to discuss the procedure and medicine and stuff, then we'll be contacted at some point Tuesday morning and go get ready to have her.
So, here's hoping that everything will be all right over the next few days!

UT Festival of Books
The day after Mom came out for baby stuff, BYU hosted the Utah Festival of Books on campus. It was pretty awesome to walk around and hear the men of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, see a "balloon animal" of Where's Waldo?, let alone get a picture of Mom with some dark foes and catch a glimpse of Archie (David Archuleta). New callings bring new understanding
A month ago, all the student wards in Provo were reorganized. Because of this, Clark and I lost half or our old ward and were mashed together with another one. This meant that we were likely to get new callings.
And we did!
Clark was called to be the ward's building coordinator and I got called to be the sacrament chorister. LOVE IT. Now, with great callings come great responsibilities and for Clark that meant going to our building every night and locking up and also getting people to help him clean twice a week. This is what I have learned (or had reinforced) from cleaning our building:
*while it's nice that married guys want to have good hygiene, I don't think the men's restroom is the place to clip (and leave, scattered all over the floor) your toenails
*women snack. Or, at least, married/pregnant women snack. Those sanitary napkin dispensers always had wrappers for cookies, chips, granola bars, candy bars, etc. in them instead of, well, used sanitary napkins.
*women are (much) cleaner than men
*my husband is such a nerd, but has apparently learned a lot from all of his facility management classes (my favorite comment is still, "this bathroom isn't 88 compliant!")
