::This may be gross. You're warned::
I've decided the one good thing about throwing up is that you then know how good of a job you're doing of chewing/digesting your food. I mean, can you still identify everything or is it mush like it's supposed to be?

Cheesy Retro
I'm sitting in my living room, watching Swan Princess on the VCR and loving every second of the predictable story line and very 90s music.
"You should write a book: How to Offend Women in Five Words or Less."
"Once she hears of the danger I put myself through to get those flowers, the kissing will not stop!"
"Someday, I'm going to BOOOOIIIIIL over!"

Giving Thanks
Clark and I were assigned to give talks in Church this last Sunday. And while I love preparing for talks, actually giving them still scares the dickens out of me. :) Luckily, our topic was gratitude. Unluckily, it was also the topic for the couple that spoke before us. Lol.
Anyway, I based my talk off three others given by general authorities:
"An Attitude of Gratitude" by Thomas S. Monson (which may sound familiar even though this talk was given in 1992--it's because his talk this past October was heavily based on this one!)
"Give Thanks In All Things" by Dallin H. Oaks
"Live In Thanksgiving Daily" by Joseph B. Wirthlin
If you want to know how to be happy, start with Elder Wirthlin. If you feel like everything is crashing around you, start with Elder Oaks. If you want to see blessings all around you, combine Elder Wirthlin and President Monson's talks. They are such beautiful and special messages and I'm so happy that I was able to spend a lot of time last week thinking of the many blessings I have in my life.
Particularly poignant was the list President Monson offered:
1. Mothers
2. Fathers
3. Teachers
4. Friends
5. Our country
6. Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
I can't express my gratitude for any of these people or things any better than he did so, once again, I ask you to read his talk.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, pt. 1
Woo! Got to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, pt. 1 on opening night in Orem. As stated on Facebook, I loved it, with the exception of the ending, which I still believe could have been done much better. As it stands, it just felt like they made both parts one film and then, for some reason, decided to just cut the filmstrip where they ended the first film. Weird. Rubbed me the wrong way.
But, other than that, it was a great night and I liked the film a lot. :) Here are some pictures!

And, randomly, here's a chocolate chip cookie recipe I found:
Chocolate Chip recipe:
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons hot water
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Tips for the Pharmacy
First, when you get healthy insurance, make DARN SURE that it covers pharmacy costs. Otherwise you're going to have some very expensive days ahead of you.
Second, when you call the pharmacy to see if acedometaphin mixes well with the generic version of Zofran, don't sound like a crazy person. They'll not laugh at you afterward.

Letter 1
Dear baby,
You make me cry a lot more than necessary. Don't get me wrong, I've always been a *little* emotional (especially about certain topics) but that's what comes with being a passionate person in general, right?
So why must you make me cry at every single Christmas song ever?
I love you, but, man, we're going to have a chat when we meet.
Love,
your mother

You know you need new glasses . . .
. . . when you're driving past a sign and get really excited because you see hoverboards only cost $1. Then you realize it's a Bowling Alley ad for $1 a lane (or something) in NOVEMBER. Obviously those two words get mixed up all the time. Really.

What's good for you could kill you . . .
This post is more for me than anyone else. I just want to be able to look back and remember some random, funny things about this pregnancy.
Like the fact that everyone keeps recommending crackers/dry cereal and ginger ale to help with the nausea.
And if I eat crackers and dry cereal my body automatically gets rid of it.
And ginger ale tastes like hot dog water. (Good thing I paid $2 for the 2 Liter, eh?)
Also, both toothpaste and Clark's mouthwash make me throw up (and, no, I will not go into how horrible my dental hygiene is right now).
You know, those kinds of funny things. :)

The Doctor, pt. 1
My doctor is still a bit of a mystery to me but, if she's anything like the RN I met with today, I'm one lucky duck.
Today is awesome because:
*I'm 10 weeks along (not 7 1/2) WHICH MEANS a) I'm almost done with my first trimester! and b) the baby will be here sooner than we thought (by a month! Wow)!
*I heard the heartbeat. My baby's heartbeat. So cute! I'm really sad that Clark wasn't there (we weren't expecting that to happen today at all) but it's something they check at every appointment, so we've already set up the next one for a day that Clark can go into work late.
Today is scary because:
*I have a ton of bloodwork that needs to be taken care of in the next two weeks. Not a fan of needles. Or blood. Or work (haha, the last one's a joke).
*Still can't get anti-nausea medication because I don't know which pharmacies are covered by our insurance. Yeesh.
So, yeah, here's to June 7th. We'll see how right the doctor is and how early the baby comes (no pun intended, all of my mom's and sister's kids have been early).

The pregnancy so far
Talk about a roller coaster of events! Life has certainly been interesting the last month (since I found out I was pregnant October 4th it'll officially have been a month tomorrow). I'd been a little nauseous before that (just couldn't stand up too quickly or move too fast without feeling a little light-headed, etc.) and Clark and I *wanted* a kid, but we didn't want to get our hopes up, so we waited a few extra days to make sure it wasn't a mistake to take a test (also, those "pee-sticks" (as Clark calls them) are expensive!) and find out.
Happily, the stick said yes.
I was good for about 4 - 5 days after that and then either my mind decided to go with the stereotypes or the hormones really kicked in because, ever since, I've not been able to really force myself out of bed before 10 or 11 in the morning (my body refuses to get up because even trying will result in a HUGE wave of nausea which tends to lead to throwing up) and, up until this week, meant I couldn't really eat much besides dry cereal, saltines and baked potatoes (and not the good kind, either).
This week, my body has upped the ante, in that I still feel nauseous, still can't move too fast, still have absolutely no appetite, but my stomach starts wigging out like I haven't eaten a crumb in over a day if I don't feed it every hour or so. However, to top it all off, I feel like all the food sort of settles in my esophagus which makes me feel like I'm constantly about to throw up.
I swear, my body is the weirdest. I've never even heard of this being a problem for anyone else. I was prepared for using the bathroom every hour, back pains in the third trimester, maybe some throwing up every morning . . . but the nausea threw me for a loop. And the hunger + nausea just leaves me confused.
::sigh::
Anyway, now that we have our health insurance stuff sorted out (::knockonwood:: ::crosses fingers::) I should FINALLY be able to set up an appointment with a doctor to get things figured out. And let's hope s/he can give me some nausea medicine. Or really, really good advice. :)
